Dear Daughter of Almighty God

Ephesians 6:17 (ESV)

17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,

Historical background

A Roman soldier’s helmet protected a soldier’s skull and neck from enemy blows and falling debris.  Fashioned from bronze or iron, the helmet included two hinged side pieces to protect the cheekbones and jaw.  Helmets were often lined inside with sponge or felt for comfort.

Biblical parallels

The helmet of salvation guards the mind.  The helmet can also be called the “hope of salvation”.  Satan attacks our mind but if we keep our helmet on, read the Word of God we can fight off satans attacks.

There is a great battle that goes on in the mind. The devil whispers just one more will not hurt, go on no one can see; just try it once it’s not going to make a difference. Sound familiar. Remember Salvation means deliverance, rescue, recovery and escape. The helmet delivers us from those thoughts, rescues us from that little voice (or big voice), helps us to recover from those thoughts and gives us a way of escape.

Salvation is yours.

Your loving sister Amanda
